Let The Construction Begin

We broke ground for our brand new facilities just as 2011 was coming to an end. What a lot of work! All of our progress has been a labor of love. The completion of the facilities marks the beginning of a commitment to have a place that pleases even the pickiest of canine clients. We wanted a place where dogs can mingle and play in big fenced-in areas off of their leash and stroll with their humans along scenic open spaces.

The property for Duffy’s Bed and Biscuit is located just about 1 mile from the square of Hummelstown. Once land was cleared to make room for the buildings, progress sped up.

Our indoor kennels are what we like to call our “K9 Condos”. Each one has a glass front gate, smooth laminate divider panels, and plenty of room for dogs to relax in climate-controlled comfort. Our standard K9 Condo is 4’x6’, and our luxury size is 6’x8’ for big dogs or multiple dogs from the same household.

We like to keep things impeccably clean, so we installed a state-of the-art wet / dry central vacuum system for the utmost care regarding cleaning and hygiene.

With over 11 acres of land, of course our outdoor areas are vast and beautiful. We created a 15000 square foot fenced-in outdoor area where dogs can run and play during training visits. This area is also surrounded by open field where dogs can run to their hearts’ content without running out of space. We also made sure to keep many shady and wooded areas for trail walking and fun hikes

To keep dogs clean in bad weather or for shorter visits, we included a 4000 square foot area for playtime on artificial turf. The 6 foot high fence keeps the dogs safe and secure while they run and play without getting muddy. The turf area is adjoined to the K9 Condo boarding facility for convenient frequent romps and appropriate rest periods.

Busy keeping up with our young boys, and our own energetic dogs, the building of Duffy’s Bed and Biscuit sure was quite a project! Not only is the land and facility designed for dogs, it is also great for family gatherings. We look forward to sharing this space with many happy dogs, our neighbors, and our busy local residents during special events we have planned.
